WHAT IS
MOSS3D?
MOSS3D is a business model that surged from a case competition. A team of three brilliant girls and I signed up to compete in the Hult on Campus competition in the Fall of 2020. The challenge of the competition was "creating better businesses for a better planet". Through research, we discovered how inimical rubber tire manufacturing was for the environment and decided to come with an alternative, eco-friendly way of manufacturing rubber tires, more specifically bicycle tires.

MOSS3D leverages two technologies to 3D print bicycle tires from a biodegradable filament, and embeds moss into the tire so that when the MOSS3D tire is being used it can absorb existing CO2 from the atmosphere and produce oxygen. Producing tires that are lightweight, shock absorbant, eco-friendly and puncture-free.
THE PROBLEM
We are targeting the entire life of a tire.
Mainly its manufacturing, its usage, as it
pertains to the release of carbon dioxide
and its afterlife, since traditional tire’s
rubber takes more than 80 years to
decompose ending in oceans and con-
taminating the environment.

Utilize environmentally friendly materi-
als like TPU which are biodegradable
and new technologies like 3D printing to
re-design the tire manufacturing, its
usage and afterlife to ultimately elimi-
nate the release of carbon dioxide and
instead have climate positive tires.
